Welcome, and Thank you for visiting Greenfolio.com! My name is Richard Barton and I am the founder and editor of Greenfolio and GreenHome Magazine.
What we do is simple. We showcase the products and services of sustainable building and design companies - from individual artisans to multi-national architecture firms - and promote them both online and through our network of regional partnerships.
Our mission is to promote the beauty of green building (and living!) far and wide. We are inspired by all the rapidly evolving new technologies, materials and products that offer the possibility of a future that is not only sustainable, but regenerative.
We also celebrate the enduring legacy of time-honored design, craft, and building traditions that respect the natural world and its resources. We now have the opportunity to build truly beautiful, healthy, and technologically sophisticated homes, cities and communities that have the potential to be deeply integrated into natural systems.
Our website is free to use and open to everyone. Greenfolio.com has been designed to showcase the best sustainable architecture and design resources currently available in the communities we serve.
Greenfolio Members pay an annual fee to be represented both online and in their communities through our network of partnerships with local organizations and businesses. If you provide a green product or service that would bring value to our community, we invite you to contact us!
Greenfolio.com will soon be joined by our companion website, GreenHomeMagazine.com, where we will feature expanded coverage on the work of our members in an online magazine format that will include a weblog. Our mission is to provide both the public and the green building industry a suite of resources that will help make beautiful, healthy, and efficient sustainable design available for everyone.
My experience with sustainable building products goes back over twenty years. Inspired by Bernard Rudofsky's book, Architecture without Architects, I began a search of vernacular architecture and building technologies. I researched rammed earth, passive solar design and non-toxic building materials alongside the prevailing architectural theories and building practices at the time.
As a current sales associate at livingreen in Culver City, I market the products and services of numerous companies to hundreds of homeowners and design professionals. Creating greenfolio.com and providing an online resource and directory was a logical and natural extension to what I've been doing for a number of years.
Thank you for spending time on greenfolio.com and come back often as we grow and provide even more great resources from the rapidly growing "green" building market.
